Member of 81st SFS wins AETC's 2011 Airman of the year

Staff Sgt. Angelo Banks, 81st Security Forces Squadron, was named the Air Education and Training Command Airman of the year March 2.

Banks streamlined Defense Biometric Identification System registration for non-prior service Airmen saving an average of 40 man-hours per month. He strengthened base defenses by leading security forces members in approximately 200 random antiterrorism measures. He also prevented injury during a medical emergency by stabilizing someone suffering a seizure.

Outside of his official duties, some of Banks' achievements include has volunteering for Airmen Against Drunk Driving, organizing a base 5K run and bringing together a team for the Gulf Coast Heart Walk.

Banks now competes at the Air Force level.
