Secretary Janet Napolitano, Department of Homeland Security, Secretary Gary Locke, Department of Commerce, and Jane Lubchenco, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, met with Haley Barbour, Mississippi governor, as well as local business leaders and federal, state and local officials at Keesler Air Force Base's Sablich Center May 6.

The meeting was a part of their ongoing emphasis on interagency coordination in response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and their continued oversight of BP's efforts to plug the leak and contain the oil spill.

After concluding their meeting, Secretary Napolitano, Secretary Locke, Administrator Lubchenco and Governor Barbour held a press conference at Keesler's weather observatory tower. There they addressed local, national and international media offering answers ranging from what actions are planned to how people can volunteer to help.
