Keesler Hospital, Humana host "Evening of Medical Collaboration" March 4

The 81st Medical Group Hospital and Humana Military Healthcare Services
host a program for TRICARE network providers on March 4 at 6 p. m. at the medical center.

The fourth annual "Evening of Medical Collaboration" is an invitation-only event for civilian and military providers, medical facility staffs, area hospital leadership and administrative staff, and congressional staff members. The event is intended to demonstrate how Keesler Medical Center provides premier health care through community collaboration. The 2010 program will highlight the medical center's Graduate Medical Education (GME) program which trains future Air Force medical professionals.

The evening begins with a social hour from 6-7 p.m., opening remarks given by Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Daniel Wyman, 81st Medical Group commander, followed by a presentation by Col. Martha Stokes, GME director, on the medical center's GME program and training partnerships with the Air Force, Army, Navy, civilian and Veterans Affairs medical facilities. Following Colonel Stokes' presentation, participants will be offered the opportunity to tour the medical center's Medical Simulation Laboratory and new Radiation Oncology Center.

Approximately 200 network physicians, hospital CEOs and administrative
personnel from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Hattiesburg and Mobile, Ala., areas are expected to attend. In addition, members of Senators Thad Cochran's, Roger Wicker's, and Congressman Gene Taylor's area offices have been invited, as well as state senators Billy Hewes and Deborah Dawkins. Also expected to attend are representatives from the TRICARE Regional Office - South, Naval Hospital Pensacola, Camp Shelby, Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport and Mobile Coast Guard installation.
