Environmental Resoration Meeting Keesler's environmental restoration technical review committed meets 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the West Biloxi Public Library, 2047 Pass Road. The meeting is a forum for exchange of information and partnership among citizens, the installation, the Environmental Protection Agency and the state regarding environmental restoration activities on Defense Department installations. Tax office open The tax office opens Friday in Room 229, Sablich Center. Richard Ess is the tax office manager. There are four filing stations at the office. Each squadron will have one or more tax preparers and a list will be published as soon it's finalized. Some state and federal return forms may be obtained from distribution racks located outside of the tax office. Almost all returns are filed electronically for both federal and state taxes. Electronic filing is in big demand because it lessens the time taxpayers have to wait for their refunds. For electronic filing, the taxpayer must: Have all W-2 forms. Have the Social Security number for each family member claimed. Have all 1099 forms that reflect interest earned, dividends received or retired pay. Have a copy of your return from last year. A form 8879 and state form have to be signed by both tax filers, so both should be present or be prepared to take the forms to be signed by your spouse. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. working Fridays. Call for an appointment to ensure that a preparer is available to assist you. For more information, call 377-4859. Pass Road Gate update The southbound lanes of Ploesti Drive from the gate to Hercules Street are closed until further notice. All traffic entering the base at the Pass Road Gate is detoured north on Ploesti around Bay Breeze Golf Course and marina park.The Rodenberg Gate is open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Sundays and holidays. Trainers plan awards banquet The 81st Training Group annual awards banquet is Feb. 4 in the Dragon's Lair. The 6 p.m. social hour is followed by dinner at 7. The attire is mess dress or semi-formal for military and business or evening attire for civilians. Tickets are $10 for E-1 through E-4 and $15 for E-5 and above and civilians. Purchase tickets by Jan. 29 from first sergeants or squadron representatives. Parts of two streets to be closed Segments of two streets will be closed Feb. 8-22 to complete sewer connections for the new training aids facility at the corner of Larcher Boulevard and Chappie James Avenue. Chappie James Avenue -- closed from Larcher Boule-vard to Larcher Chapel's east parking lot entrance. Larcher Boulevard -- southbound from L Street north to the crossover at B Street Traffic will be detoured west at intersection of Tingle (C) Street to Third Street, then south on Third and X Streets to L Street; then east on L Street back to Larcher. Off-limits establishments Off-limits establishments for military members are Guitars & Cadillacs in D'Iberville; the Blue Note Lounge, Boulevard Nightclub and Henry Beck Park (except during daylight hours or official events) in Biloxi; Bunksmall Apartments and H&H Hideaway in Pascagoula and Toni's Lounge in Moss Point. Fitness center flooring work under way The work that began Monday to replace the carpet with tile in the men's locker room at Blake Fitness Center is being accomplished in sections, allowing access to the showers during the entire installation process. The project is expected to be completed by Feb. 8.
