Members from the 333rd Training Squadron and 334th Training Squadron competed in the Intramural Volleyball Championship here May 7.

The 334th TRS defeated the 333rd TRS 23-21 and 24-22 in a three game series.

"Though we lost our team did great," said Lt. Col. Scott Solomon, 333rd TRS commander. "We were consistent and close all the way to the end. It was a great team effort.

It was great to get a team together to fight on a different front."

Staff sergeant Ashley Spurlin of the 334 TRS, as team captain helped lead the team to 4-5 season and championship win.

"I think we have progressed a lot through the season and you could actually see the camaraderie develop and come together in the team," Sergeant Spurlin said.

Sergeant Spurlin explained how Intramural sports are similar to the Air Force because people of all different skill levels work together to accomplish the same goal and this translates to job because when deployed people from all different fields work together to accomplish the mission.

"I think it cool to play intramural sports," said Sergeant Spurilin. "I like playing because I don't get to meet a lot of people outside of my squadron and this makes the base feel like a small community and makes it more personal."

"Intramural sports like these help raise moral and fosters teamwork," said Col. Solomon. "It's good to bring everybody together whether civilian, officer, or enlisted to fight for the same goal."
