3 claim AETC technical training recognition Published April 2, 2009 By Susan Griggs 81st Training Wing Public Affairs KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, BILOXI, MISS. -- Members of the 81st Training Group were recognized with three 2008 Air Education and Training Command technical training awards: Senior Airman Brandon Harris, 335th Training Squadron, airman instructor. Staff Sgt. Marsheila Baker, 336th TRS, noncommissioned officer instructor. Melissa Jane Dodson, 81st Training Support Squadron, support civilian. Airman Baker, an instructor for enlisted financial courses, was recognized as the 81st TRG's airman instructor of the quarter twice during 2008. The only airman block chief in the squadron, he logged 720 curriculum hours and graduated 161 students. He verified 960 pages of new course curriculum, correcting 10 errors. He served at 20 funerals as a member of the Keesler Honor Guard, invigorated the unit's physical training program and recruited 20 participants who raised $17,000 for the American Heart Association's Heart Walk. Sergeant Baker, an instructor in the communications-computer systems operations course, delivered 1,016 hours of instruction to 228 students with a 98 percent pass rate. She mentored 27 struggling students and all passed the course. She was recognized as an "outstanding performer" during the 81st TRG's standards/ evaluations inspection and managed the Technical Training Management System with more than 1,500 error-free entries. She served as a physical training leader and was credited with preventing a student suicide. Her volunteer efforts include the AHA Heart Walk, Vets4Vets, squadron booster club president, American Red Cross and Airman Against Drunk Driving dispatcher. Ms. Dodson, an instructional systems specialist, is AETC's lead basic instructor course training developer for five bases responsible for standardizing courses to support 843 faculty members during the year. She interfaced with five training groups and 2nd Air Force to develop five courses enhancing the performance of 1,590 faculty members. During the 81st TRG standards/evaluations inspection, there were no discrepancies for the basic instructor course. She's a single mothers ministry mentor, science class resource person for a fifth grader class and participated in bowling fund-raisers for Special Olympics, Project Cheer and first sergeants council.
