Blue Star Museums offer free admission to military families

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs is among more than 2,000 museums across the country that is offering free admission this summer to military families as part of the Blue Star Museums program.

Free admission is offered to active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, through Labor Day, Sept. 7.

The program involves collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Defense Department.

Other Mississippi museums involved are the Delta Blues Museum, Clarksdale; Museum of the Mississippi Delta, Greenwood; Marshall County Historical Museum, Holly Springs; B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, Indianola; Mississippi Children's Museum and Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson; House on Ellicott Hill and Magnolia Hall, Natchez; and the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, Vicksburg.
