The Defense Media Activity's Joint Hometown News Service allows service members across all branches to inform their families and local community of noteworthy events in their military careers.

With more than 70,000 releases per year, the JHNS is responsible for sharing the accomplishments of Defense Department members with civilian media outlets.

By submitting a DOD Form 2266 to DMA, Airmen can have a short write-up of their accomplishments sent to their hometown newspapers to be published for the public to see. Graduations, retirements, promotions, assumptions of command and decorations are just some of the categories for which a news release may be submitted.

Once a form is filled out, it is submitted to the base public affairs office, where it is reviewed, edited and either approved or sent back to the applicant for more information. Upon approval by the PAO, it is sent to DMA to be reviewed and released to the proper local news outlet.

Visit www.keesler.af.mil/publicaffairs.asp or http://jhns.dma.mil for more information on the program or to complete a hometown news release form.
