The 81st Medical Support Squadron readiness flight medical emergency management staff is seeking volunteers to participate in a 81st Training Wing exercise Feb. 27.

The point of dispensing exercise will be conducted 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Vandenberg Community Center. Volunteers meet at the adjacent Welch Theater for a briefing before the exercise starts.

Since this is an exercise, no actual medical care will be provided. However, flu shots, while not required, will be available.

Staff Sgt. Hana Webb, NCO-in-charge of 81st Medical Group plans and exercises, explained, "Participants will walk through the large-scale medication distribution process to help test our ability to serve the beneficiaries of Keesler Air Force Base. There is no signup; volunteers can simply walkin.

"People may volunteer for the entire three-hour event. It will take approximately 20 minutes to pass through the POD, but we would encourage volunteers to pass through several times to help us meet our 600-patient quota."

Any Department of Defense ID or CAC card holders, including dependents and children, may participate. In addition, bag lunches will be provided to any dorm residents who volunteer, but they must contact either Webb or Maj. Dawn Higgins, 376-3278, before Feb. 27.
