Three from 81st TRW Public Affairs win AETC media awards Published Feb. 7, 2014 By 81st Training Wing Public affairs KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Three members of the 81st Training Wing Public Affairs team are winners in the 2013 Air Education and Training Command Media Contest. Airman 1st Class Stephan Coleman, Keesler News photojournalist, won first place in the commentary category for an editorial he wrote about finding a reason to quit smoking. He also placed third in the outstanding new writer category. Coleman came to Keesler almost a year ago for his first assignment after joining the Air Force in August 2012. Staff Sgt. Greg Biondo, noncommissioned officer in charge of public affairs, placed third in the feature category. He wrote an "Airman Portrait" feature about Julianne Bocek, 2nd Air Force, and how resilience played a role in her family's recovery from Hurricane Katrina. Biondo, who joined the Air Force nine years ago, has been stationed at Keesler for eight months. Susan Griggs is AETC's civilian print journalist of the year. She came to Keesler almost 18 years ago as a contract writer for the Keesler News. She was the newspaper editor for nearly three years before moving to community relations. She's earned 18 AETC, three Air Force and one Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson Award. Coleman and Griggs now move on to Air Force competition.
