The Larcher Chapel Gospel Service dedicated their Jan. 19 celebration to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an iconic leader in the advancement of the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

The theme for this year's program was "What is Your Dream?"

"It's important to remember the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, and to make it our dream," said Maj. Angela Batts, 335th Training Squadron. "We have come a long way as a nation and must continue to strive for equality for all mankind."

Col. Malcolm Johnson, 2nd Air Force vice commander and experienced preacher, was the guest speaker for the event.

Johnson spoke on the importance of a constant push for equality.

"Martin Luther King's dream is important because it allows everyone to have dreams of their own and it gives them the ability to obtain them," said Johnson. "His dream of equality for all is not just for the African-American community, but should be an ideal we recall for all people of all races and nationalities, and it should never be forgotten."
