Shopping for work-related items became faster and easier for authorized Government Purchase Card holders with the opening of a base supply store Aug. 28.

The store, managed by Drew Camire, is in Building 4605 next to the 81st Contracting Squadron. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"Visit the store and see the products they have on the shelves," said Lisa David, 81st CONS, alternate GPC coordinator. "Once an item is selected, go to the counter and use your GPC card. Cash and personal credit cards aren't accepted."

"If you can't find something you need, tell the front desk," David suggested. "There's a very helpful staff over there, and if something isn't stocked, they can order it for you."

The store will deliver supplies to base organizations and will match competitors' prices.

David pointed out that cardholders must have adequate money loaded on their cards to make purchases, which may be difficult until after the Sept. 30 closeout for the current fiscal year.

"No money, no purchase," she pointed out. "Before you make a purchase, ask your resource adviser for funding to be loaded onto your card."

Tech. Sgt. Matthew Gormely, resource adviser for the 81st Security Forces Squadron, visited the store on opening day.

"The company that runs the store has 'welcome packets' for cardholders and resource advisers with catalogs and contact information," Gormely remarked. "They also have a great stock of Ability One/Skilcraft-compliant items on hand to meet the immediate needs of office supplies to stay within sequestration guidelines."

Gormely added that the store has a full line of tactical gear as well as many deployment items such as fire-resistant underclothing and Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern uniforms for personnel deploying to Afghanistan or other requirements.
