The 81st Force Support Squadron is teaming up with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service to make information, travel and tickets more readily available to customers at the Keesler Exchange.

At 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22, a test kiosk is being launched at the exchange to make ITT services more convenient for shoppers. The ribbon-cutting features giveaways, displays from tourist attractions and light refreshments.

Keesler's kiosk is part of a test at six bases for the next year. The concept has already been implemented at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., and Dyess AFB, Texas, with increased sales.

"Teaming with AAFES is a win-win for both organizations," explained Tom Golden, 81st FSS community services flight chief. "It should increase foot traffic and generate additional revenue for the exchange and ITT operation while creating a one-stop shop for customers. Additionally, we'll be able to share more programs from other services activities with patrons.

"The ITT location in the Bay Breeze Event Center will close and there'll be two people in the kiosk, like the car rental place," he added.

"Anyone on base is invited to pick up a special 'boarding pass' available at most 81st FSS facilities, fill out the back and drop it off at the kiosk on Aug. 22 before the ribbon cutting for a chance to win prizes including a seven-day Armed Forces Vacation Club condo rental or a $1,000 or $500 gift card for 81st FSS facilities," said marketing director Lisa Campbell. "We'll accept one entry per person, and no purchase is necessary to win."

ITT prototype kiosks include a take-a-number system with pagers, according to Golden. The kiosk can serve multiple customers and meets Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
