KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Keesler Medical Center celebrated National Nurse and Tech Week May 9-13 in recognition of the important roles nurses and techs play in health care.
“This week gives us the opportunity to celebrate the many accomplishments and contributions nurses and technicians have made to our profession as well as a chance to educate others on the roles we play in meeting their healthcare needs,” said Maj. Gen. Dorothy Hogg, Deputy Surgeon General and Chief of the Air Force Nurse Corps.
The 81st Medical Group is using this year’s theme of ‘Culture of safety – it starts with you’ to let all 234 nurses and 195 technicians know they can help cultivate a safe medical environment for their patients and co-workers.
“Every person can make a difference,” said 1st Lt. Jennifer Andrews, 81st Aerospace Medicine Squadron nurse manager. “Even the smallest things you change in your unit to make things safer for your patients can create a bigger ripple effect for patient care and patient safety; along with staff safety too.”
The medical group held several events in celebration of the week-long holiday to help spread safety awareness and bring Airmen together.
