Keesler Air Force Base will conduct an active shooter exercise from approximately 9 a.m. Thursday, 20 Oct. 2022 to 11 a.m. Friday, 21 Oct. 2022.

Active shooter exercises are designed to evaluate first responders and test the base populace on reaction and recovery actions in the event of a real-world incident.

“Keesler attempts to execute as many realistic portions as possible during an active shooter exercise. This allows first responders and other personnel to hear and see what may occur if an active shooter situation occurs,” stated William Mays, Inspections Specialist.

Personnel and visitors should anticipate travel impacts, increased security measures and emergency-response vehicles moving around the installation. These exercise activities may interrupt or delay base operations and services.
