Course Description:
ELITE is designed to enhance Department of Defense learning professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to critically consider how to design and deliver instruction to learners in a student-centered active learning environment. This course focuses on the theories and strategies that address the diverse needs of students in today’s military classroom.
Topics in this course include;
- Characteristics of a Facilitator
- Teaching with Emotional Intelligence
- Instructional Style
- How People Learn
- Collaborative Facilitation
- Active Learning Strategies
- Integrating Multimedia, Room Configuration
- Instructional System Development (ISD)
- Converting Lesson Plans for the Active Learning Environment
- Integrating Collaborative Learning Mini-Lesson Capstone.

Reporting Instructions: Specific reporting and classroom instructions will be emailed to students via "Welcome Letter" once training has been confirmed.
Scheduling ELITE MTT Training:
We will provide training at your location. However, request hosting organization to provide the minimum classroom requirements. Please review the ELITE MTT hosting site requirements below. ELITE student roster (Please download the ELITE student Roster).
ELITE MTT REQUIREMENTS
CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS (Must Haves):
- Main Display 80”-100”(to project slides) (large enough to be seen easily be all attendees)
o Can dock laptop or computer for presentation
- Space…this course is very interactive and collaborative—space allows facilitator to move
- Commercial WIFI (bandwidth and strength needs to be high)
- Access to AFNET (students need to be able to access myLearning)
- Individual desks that can be grouped into Pods for students
- Whiteboards, or Blackboards
- Meet minimum acceptable standards for a classroom
o Size to student ratio
o Lighting
o A/C and Heating
o Environmental (Not next to construction—someone drilling in wall next door)
o Safety
Safe from tripping hazards
Safe from electrical hazards
Meet Fire codes
CLASSROOM RECOMMENDATIONS (Nice to have):
- Multiple presentation displays for each group to present
- Round tables that can seat 4 students
- Access to printer (for students)
- Additional classrooms for student practice
STUDENT REQUIREMENTS (Must Haves):
- Electronic device such as a laptop with CAC ability for myLearning
- Pen, pencil, or preference for taking notes (tablets etc.)
STUDENT RECOMMENDATIONS (Nice to Have):
- Access to a lesson plan and Plan of Instruction (POI) for the course they teach
