KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Keesler’s 21st annual Home Away From Home program is scheduled for this Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.
Home Away From Home allows active duty, retired and civil service personnel in the greater Biloxi area to host non-prior service Airmen in their homes with home-cooked meals on Thanksgiving Day.
For many NPS students in training, this is their first Thanksgiving away from home, said Chaplain (Capt.) Steven Wichern, 81st Training Group chaplain. This event helps them stay resilient by reminding them even when they’re separated from immediate family members, they have the love and support of the community and their Air Force family.
Approximately 400 students were invited to homes within the community for Thanksgiving meals in 2016.
