The fourth annual Inaugural Mississippi Joint Service-Junior ROTC All Drill Competition is scheduled for Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 403rd Wing dual hangar here. Approximately 800 Junior ROTC cadets and spectators will come to Keesler to battle for the best all-services Junior ROTC team for Mississippi.

Eighteen teams from local area high schools will compete in the contest, which will include Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine Corps units. The competition will consist of six events: Color Guard, Personnel Inspection, Armed Regulation, Armed Exhibition, Unarmed Regulation and Unarmed Exhibition. The school with the highest overall combined score from these six events will earn the title of Mississippi All-Services Junior ROTC Drill Champion.

The event allows for friendly competition and is also a chance to showcase the Air Force to future Airmen. There will be static displays, military equipment, food concession stands, local recruiters and a combat controller parachute jump demonstration.

The event is free and open to anyone with access to the base.

Media interested in covering the event may contact the 81st Training Wing Public Affairs at (228) 377-1179 or e-mail 81trw.pa@us.af.mil to RSVP.
