KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Keesler Air Force Base will host its bi-annual Operation Hero event here at the corner of 2nd St. and E St. Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This event gives Keesler's dependent children the opportunity to experience what a deployment is like for their parents.
Participants will receive a T-shirt, dog tags and a pre-deployment as well as medical checklist to complete during the event. They will visit a war paint area before “deploying” to an undisclosed location. Children will then have the opportunity to try on a gas mask, carry “patients” in litters, see a military working dog demonstration, ride a train and view several military vehicles.
