Keesler honors namesake during retreat ceremony

Keesler Air Force Base will honor the life and accomplishments of its namesake, Lt. Samuel Keesler Jr., during a 75th Anniversary retreat ceremony, May 10.

Hundreds of Keesler Airmen will line Meadows Dr. at the base flagpole in front of the headquarters building with a crowd of Keesler leadership, staff, invited veterans and local civic leaders attending.

A flag lowering and folding detail will be dressed in WWII period uniforms to symbolize the base’s 75 years in service.

The ceremony will approximately be between 3:45 and 5 p.m. During the ceremony, Taps will also be played over the base public address system.
