Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Keesler staff and students are scheduled to hold a Battle of Midway Commemoration ceremony here at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 5.

The ceremony will commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, the U.S. Navy’s most significant naval victory and turning point of World War II.

CNATTU Commanding Officer Cmdr. Timothy Knapp and other Keesler Air Force Base leaders are expected to attend the hour-long event, during which CNATTU Keesler Sailors will present facts about the Battle of Midway.

“This allows us, regardless of branch of service, to reflect and honor the Sailors that fought and survived and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice during a battle which essentially turned the tide of World War II,” said Knapp. “The pride, the unselfishness, and the courage and commitment that every Sailor on every ship and squadron maintained 76 years ago is something we at CNATTU Keesler strive to instill in the Sailors and Marines coming through our schoolhouse today.”

Media is invited to cover this event. To RSVP, contact the 81st Training Wing Public Affairs office by 4 p.m. Monday, June 4 at 228-377-1179 or email 81trw.pa@us.af.mil for more information.
