The 2015 Combined Federal Campaign will kick off Oct. 24 and will last until Nov. 20.

This year’s kickoff event will be held in conjunction with the Dragon Challenge. At the event attendees will be able to receive information about the campaign, learn of ways to donate and opportunities to make a donation to the CFC charity of their choice.

“We will have CFC brochures and catalogs available for individuals to see the hundreds of charities associated with CFC, as well as pledge forms in case individuals want to make a donation on the spot at the event,” said Capt. Erin Holland, 335th Training Squadron personnel officer course instructor and base CFC coordinator. “We have also invited some of the local charities to attend the Dragon Challenge and set up informational tables so that Keesler members can actually see and talk to some of the organizations associated with CFC.”

The campaign, which started in 1961, is used to coordinate fundraising efforts of multiple charities worldwide so that federal donors can donate through payroll deduction.

“Payroll deduction is a great tool to use if you want to spread out your donation throughout the year and have it automatically deducted from your monthly payroll,” said Holland. “It allows you to gradually make your donation, so it's not such an immediate impact to your bank account. It's also extremely convenient to the donor, since you can accomplish the donation at your own pace and don't have to involve a third party in handling your donation pledge form.”

Since its beginning in 1961, the campaign has been able to raise more than $6 billion for charities around the world. With multiple avenues to donate, any member of Team Keesler will have the chance to make a donation of their choice to their favorite charity.

“The great thing about the CFC donation options is that there's something for everyone,” said Holland. “If you're not comfortable with pledging online, you can fill out a hardcopy pledge form with one of our unit representatives. On the other hand, if you'd rather work the automated process, you can do so through MyPay or https://www.greatermscfc.org. You can also do an automatic payroll deduction or simply a one-time donation.”
