Reuben N. Ebanks enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1997 and completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island,
SC, and subsequent Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC. Private First Class Ebanks was meritoriously promoted to Lance
Corporal at Machinist Mate 6217 Military Occupational School (MOS) in Pensacola and Jacksonville, FL, graduating in 1998. Lance
Corporal Ebanks reported to his first fleet assignment with Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 (VMFA 242 (AW)) at
Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, CA, in August 1998. In 1999 and 2001, he participated in two Western Pacific Unit
Deployments to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, and the surrounding Area of Operation (AO) while attaining the rank of Corporal and
Sergeant. In 2002, Sergeant Ebanks transferred to VMFA-101, also at MCAS Miramar, where he served as a Flightline Shift
Supervisor and participated in several aircraft carrier landing qualification and training exercises.
Sergeant Ebanks lateral moved into the Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) 6842 MOS in 2003 and attended the Weather
Observer Course at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB), Biloxi, MS, graduating in February 2004 as the honor graduate. After two months
of on-the-job training at the Regional METOC Center West (RMC-W) aboard MCAS Miramar, he returned to Keesler AFB where he
completed the Weather Forecaster Course, graduating as the honor graduate a second time and was selected to Staff Sergeant. In
December 2004, Sergeant Ebanks reported back to RMC-W for duty. In May 2005, Staff Sergeant Ebanks received Temporary
Additional Duty (TAD) orders to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Pendleton, CA, deploying from August 2005 to
February 2006, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) at Al Asad Airbase in Iraq.
In May 2007, Staff Sergeant Ebanks conducted Permanent Change of Assignment orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372
(MWSS-372) in Camp Pendleton and received further TAD orders to augment the reserve squadron, MWSS-473, deploying to Al
Asad Airbase in support of OIF. During the MWSS-473 deployment, he also worked in the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Forward (2nd
MAW FWD) Tactical Air Command Center (TACC). In August 2008, Staff Sergeant Ebanks reported to the 1st Intelligence Battalion,
Camp Pendleton, to serve as the METOC Training Chief while awaiting to attend the Warrant Officer Basic School (WOBC) in
Quantico, Virginia.
In February 2009, he reported to WOBC, graduating in May 2009. Warrant Officer Ebanks executed orders to MWSS-371 at MCAS
Yuma, AZ. At Yuma, he served as the METOC Officer-in-Charge (OIC) for three commands: Headquarters and Headquarters
Squadron (H&HS) MCAS Yuma, MWSS-371, and Marine Air Control Squadron - 1. During that period, Warrant Officer Ebanks also
supervised a team of six Marines and five civilians in the Meteorological Mobile Facility Replacement Next Generation (MetMF[R]
NexGen), Initial Operational Test and Evaluation, Development and Testing, which led to the acquisition of the 13 MetMF[R]
NexGen's for the METOC community. In addition, from February to August 2012, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ebanks augmented Marine
Wing Headquarters Squadron 3 at MCAS Miramar, deploying to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom, working in the TACC as the 3d MAW, FWD METOC Officer.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ebanks transferred to Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSYSCOM), MCAS Quantico, Virginia, in
October 2012. At MCSYSCOM, he served as the Low-Rate Initial Production Coordinator on the Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar
Program, as the Secondary Logistic Project Officer for the RQ-21 Blackjack Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Program, and as well as the
METOC Liaison and Coordination Project Officer. In July 2014, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Ebanks transferred to 1st MAW in Okinawa,
Japan, and served as the Wing Staff METOC Officer, supporting multiple exercises and deployments across Pacific AO. In August
2017, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Ebanks transferred to U.S. Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) at Camp Smith, HI, where he served
as the METOC and Geospatial Intelligence OIC and the Intelligence Capability and Requirement's Officer, including supervising the
MARFORPAC G-2's Program Objective Memorandum initiatives.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Ebanks then assumed duty as the RMC-W OIC from August 2020 to August 2022. He currently serves as the
OIC for the Meteorological and Oceanographic Analyst/Forecaster School aboard Keesler AFB and the Executive Officer for Marine
Corps Detachment Keesler AFB. Chief Warrant Officer 5 Ebanks has an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesley College, a
Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies with focus areas in Management and Meteorology from Excelsior College, and a Master of Arts
Degree in Homeland Security and Disaster Preparedness from New England College. His awards include the Meritorious Service
Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps
Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
