First Sergeant Apps entered recruit training at MCRD, San Diego in August 2001. In February 2002, after attending Infantry Training School, School of Infantry-West, Private First Class Apps received the MOS 0341 and was assigned orders to 2d Battalion 3d Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division in Kaneohe Bay, HI, where he held the billets of 60mm Mortar Section Assistant Gunner, Gunner and Section Leader. While assigned to 2d Battalion 3d Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, Private First Class Apps deployed on UDP to Okinawa, Japan and participated in Operations Noble Eagle, and Rising Sun. Lance Corporal Apps deployed on the 31st MEU to Okinawa, Japan where he participated in Operations Bold Alligator and Cobra Gold. In June 2004, Lance Corporal Apps received a Humanitarian Transfer to 3d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in St. Louis, MO. While at 3d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division served as a Recruiter's Assistant at RSS Springfield, IL and Battalion Training Chief. In January 2007, Sergeant Apps received orders to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines Regiment, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms, CA, where he held the billets of Rifle Platoon Sergeant, Rifle Squad Leader, 60mm Mortar Section Leader and Medium Machine Gun Section Leader. While at 3d Battalion, 7th Marines Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Sergeant Apps deployed twice in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom to Ramadi, Iraqi and Camp Gannon, Iraqi. In January 2010, Staff Sergeant Apps received orders to School of Infantry-East at Camp Geiger, NC. While at School of Infantry-East, Staff Sergeant Apps was assigned to Infantry Training Battalion where he held the billets of Platoon Commander, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Mortar Section Chief. In April 2013, Staff Sergeant Apps received orders to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines, 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC, where he held the billets of 81mm Section Leader, 81mm Platoon Sergeant, 81mm Platoon Commander, Weapons Company Operations Chief, Weapons Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant. While assigned to 2d Battalion, 6th Marines, 2d Marine Division Staff Sergeant Apps deployed on UDP to Okinawa, Japan where he participated in Operation Key Resolve. Gunnery Sergeant deployed on the 26th MEU where he participated in Operation Trident Junction and supported Operation Inherent Resolve. In July 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Apps received orders to School of Infantry-East at Camp Geiger, NC. While assigned to Infantry Training Battalion, Gunnery Sergeant Apps held the billets of Company Gunnery Sergeant and Weapons Platoon Sergeant. While assigned to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, Gunnery Sergeant Apps held the billets of Infantry Unit Leaders Course Instructor. While assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Gunnery Sergeant Apps held the billets of Battalion Operations Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant. In April 2019, he was frocked to First Sergeant and received orders as the Inspector - Instructor First Sergeant for 3d Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division in Mobile, AL where he supported three UDPs, two Special Purpose MAGTFS and numerous operations in support of Southern Command. In April 2022, First Sergeant Apps received orders to Marine Detachment Keesler AFB, where currently holds the billet of the Senior Enlisted Advisor. First Sergeant Apps' Military Education include: Infantry Mortar Leader Course, Sergeants Course, Formal School Instructor Course, Combat Instructor School, Career Course, Infantry Unit Leaders Course, Mountain Operations Staff Planners Course, Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy Training, Urban Breacher Course, Advance School, E-8 Regional Seminar. Legal services Officer Course, Unit Readiness Coordinator Course, First Sergeant Course, First Sergeant Symposium, I-I Orientation Conference and an Associates of Arts Degree. First Sergeant Apps' personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Silver Star, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Combat Instructor Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
