First Sergeant Corderis R. Brown

First Sergeant Corderis R. Brown was born in Picayune, MS and grew up in both Mississippi and Louisiana, where he attended college for three years before enlisting in the Marine Corps in May 2009. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Upon graduation, Private First Class Brown attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.

In September 2010, Private First Class Brown reported Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 in Pensacola, Florida, where he attended the Aviation A School. He then proceeded to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training aboard Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. There, he received the Military Occupational Specialty of 6333, Avionics Electrical Technician for the EA-6B Prowler, and was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.

In May 2010, Lance Corporal Brown was assigned to Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 1 (VMAQ-1), “The Banshees”, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. From September 2011 to April 2012, he deployed to Aviano, Italy, in support of Operation Unified Protector. During this time, his squadron was also called to Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was promoted to the rank also called to Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

In May 2013, Corporal Brown was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and reported to Marine Electronic Warfare Squadron 2 (VMAQ-2), "The Death Jesters." While with VMAQ-2, Sergeant Brown deployed to Iwakuni, Japan, for the Unit Deployment Program on two separate occasions. He also deployed with the squadron to Incirlik, Turkey, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
 

In July 2017, Sergeant Brown executed a lateral move from the EA-6B Prowler to the F-35B platform and was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 (VMFAT-501) at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, where he was subsequently promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. In May 2019, Staff Sergeant Brown was reassigned to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 502 (VMFAT-502) at MCAS Beaufort, serving as a Maintenance Controller to support the squadron's reactivation. He was then promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In January 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Brown and the VMFAT-502 "Nightmares" relocated to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, where he served as the Squadron Gunnery Sergeant.

Gunnery Sergeant Brown obtained multiple additional maintenance Military Occupational Specialty billets, including Quality Assurance Representative and Safe For Flight. Gunnery Sergeant Brown was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and now serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor at Marine Corps Detachment Keesler.

His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award).
